Francisco Blaha is as immigrant as they get. "I jump off a boat, literally," he says. He grew up amongst street violence in Argentina, with expectations that children unquestioningly obeyed their parents, while his children are growing up in Aotearoa. And yet, people complain about immigrants in front of Francisco as if he isn't one.
Francisco, his children Kika and Felix, and his Dutch wife Vibeke Brethouwer chat about their unique experiences of navigating languages, cultures and life in Aotearoa.
Conversations With My Immigrant Parents is a podcast and video series where parents and children learn about each other anew, and confront the complex issues that are deepened by differences in generation and culture.
