Of today's 185 cases, 152 are in Auckland, 25 are in Waikato and 8 are in Northland. 

There are also 84 people in hospital. 10 are in the ICU or high dependency unit. 

The country has also reached a new vaccination milestone. 90 percent of those eligible for the vaccine in New Zealand have had at least one dose. Anyone over 12 is eligible for the Pfizer vaccine - about 4.2 million people.  

Additional Delta death

The death, in Auckland, was announced by the Health Ministry via its 1pm Covid update statement today. 

"This person's death is subject to a police investigation and the ministry will not be commenting further on it at this stage," the Ministry said.

The total number of cases in the outbreak is now 4998.
