Today there are 205 new cases of Covid-19 to report. Of these, 175 are in Auckland, 20 are in Waikato, 4 in Northland, 5 in Bay of Plenty and 1 new case in the Lakes district.
There are 85 people currently in hospital with Covid-19, six people are in ICU.
A man in his 40s has died at Middlemore hospital. The Ministry of Health says they will not release further information until conversations have been held with his family.
“Our thoughts are with the man’s family and friends at this deeply sad time,” the Ministry of Health said in a statement.
The Ministry of Health is encouraging anyone with Covid-19 related symptoms to get tested – even if the symptoms are mild.
91 percent of eligible people in New Zealand have had their first vaccine dose, and 83 percent are fully vaccinated.
As of 9am today, just over one million requests for a My Vaccine Pass had been processed.
