Today’s 29 new cases bring the outbreak total to 1448.
Covid-19 response Minister Chris Hipkins and Director of Public Health Dr Caroline McElnay gave the 1pm update today.
Seven of the 24 new cases in Auckland remain unlinked to the outbreak, while all cases in Waikato have been linked. The total number of cases in Waikato is 22.
Hospitalisations
The number of people hospitalised with Covid-19 has dropped to 23, with four people in the ICU or high dependency unit.
Locations of interest
The Auckland City Mission has been added to the list of locations of interest after a person who tested positive visited the site on October 4.
The risk to the public is considered low, a full list of locations of interest can be found here on the Ministry of Health website.
Boundary Shifted
Chris Hipkins announced an extension of the Waikato boundary further south.
The southern Waikato boundary will now be extended to include the Waitomo district, Te kuiti, Waipā and Otorohonga districts.
This includes Te Awamutu, Cambridge and Karāpiro.
