There are 6,380 new cases of Covid-19 today.
Of these, 212 are in Northland, 1,667 are in Auckland, 395 in Waikato, 188 in Bay of Plenty, 113 in the Lakes district, 168 in Hawke's Bay, 222 in MidCentral, 71 in Whanganui, 184 in Taranaki, 53 in Tairāwhiti, 77 in Wairarapa, 387 in Capital and Coast, 203 in Hutt Valley, 233 in Nelson Marlborough, 1,099 in Canterbury, 172 in South Canterbury, 864 in the Southern district, 71 in the West Coast and 1 in unknown locations.
The total number of active cases is 56,571.
The Ministry of Health defines active cases as those identified in the last seven days and not yet classified as recovered.
The total number of confirmed cases to date is 893,634.
Hospitalisations and Covid-19 related deaths
4 people with Covid-19 have died over the past two days, bringing the publicly reported total to date to 687.
Of the people whose deaths we are reporting today, two from Taranaki and two from the Canterbury region.
Two people were in their 70s and two were over 90.
Two were male and two were female.
There are 508 people in hospital, with 16 of those people in intensive care or high dependency units.
The average age of people currently in hospital is 61.
Testing
1,602 PCR tests and 12,060 rapid antigen tests have been taken in the past 24 hours.

Vaccinations
96.4 percent of New Zealand's eligible population have had the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, and 95.2 percent have had a second dose.
71.1 percent of the eligible population have had a booster shot.
