There are 17 new cases of Covid-19 today.
Of these, 5 are in Auckland, 3 in Waikato, and 9 are in Bay of Plenty.
There are 44 people in hospital, with 5 of those people in intensive care or high dependency units.
The average age of people currently in hospital is 52.
Third Omicron case detected
A third Omicron case has been detected in the community today.
The case was a household close contact of another case, and were in isolation during their infectious period.
There are no locations of interest at this stage according to the Ministry of Health, who said in a statement that the risk to community from this case was "extremely low".
Vaccinations and booster shots
94 percent of New Zealand's eligible population have had the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, 92 percent have had a second dose.
5,300 booster shots were administed yesterday, another rise from yesterday's jump of nearly 4,500 booster shots administered.
From today, anyone aged 18 and over who had their second vaccination at least four months ago can get their booster dose.
There have been 4,641,086 vaccine pass downloads, including 7,997 in the last 24 hours.
